In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BEAUDOIN, Lloyd Rodney - age 74, of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully, in comfort and dignity, surrounded by loved ones at the Halifax Infirmary/QEII hospital on November 4, 2022. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, he was the son of Evelyn Beaudoin of Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Lloyd served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 18 years as a Stoker and worked for the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires for 25 years. During his time in the Navy, he sailed on several ships to many different countries, and his favorite trip was to Russia aboard the HMCS Athabaskan in the late 70s. He had many stories about his adventures that he liked to share with his friends and family.
When he retired in 2012, he enjoyed a very adventurous life of travelling down South, especially Cuba, to Quebec and around Nova Scotia. One of his favorite places to visit was his daughter and son-in-law’s cottage on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Apart from spending time with his family, his favourite activity was riding his beloved Harley everyday. He had a zest for life, a great sense of humour (sometimes inappropriate), and loved anything to do with cars, motorcycles, or mechanics. Although accident prone at times, he loved to work with his hands even though they sometimes required band-aids, stitches, or a trip to the ER. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed sharing books with friends and family.
When he met his wife Gillian on his birthday in January 1983, it was love at first sight and they were married in August of the same year. He always said that she was his birthday gift.
Survived by his wife, Gillian (Allen), daughter, Zara Bruce (Robert) and Nyanza Bell (Darrin) and son, Kiam Kuczynski, and mother, Evelyn Beaudoin (Bryant). Brothers, Lynn (Cathy), Ronnie (Robin), Marc (Marlene), and predeceased by sister Linda at birth, and brother Maurice. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren Katrina, Andrew and Trever.
Lloyd’s Celebration of Life will be on Friday, November 11, from 2-4 at the Atlantic Funeral Home at 125 Sackville Drive in Lower Sackville. Casual attire encouraged.
Lloyd completed his final 35th radiation treatment, but due to Covid protocols, was unable to ring the celebratory bell. A bell will be at the funeral home and can be rang in his honour.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Lloyd’s family would like to thank the staff at the Halifax Infirmary/QEII hospital for the compassionate and exemplary care of him during his stay at the hospital.
You will be missed by many, Lloyd. Fair Winds and Following Seas.
