In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar

William Clarence (Bill) Paly

Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Radioman Special Trade Group 4, 6208-E, RCN

Born: 1926

Died: 05 Feb 2020

PALY, William Clarence (Bill) - With family beside him, our father passed away on February 5, 2020.

He will be missed by his four surviving children - Judith (Gary), Patricia, Brian (Lauraine), and Theresa (Rob).

William (Bill) was predeceased by his son, Louis, and daughter, Laurie. Bill's wife and our mother, Dorothy, passed away in 1970. His second wife, Madeline, passed away in 1998. Dad has 11 grandchildren - Sloane, David, Heather, Dorothy, Louis, Colleen, Vicki, Sarah, Cameron, Shelby and Jake, and 14 great-grandchildren. His 15th great-grandchild will be born in May of this year. Dad was well loved. He and his only sibling, Alexander, were raised on a farm in Thorhild County. Our Uncle Alex passed away in 1981. His children, Patricia (Charlie), Clarence (Cheryl), Pauline and Don (Darlene) have always had a special place in Dad's heart.

Bill joined the Canadian Navy in Edmonton at HMCS NONSUCH and his career spanned 25 years. When he retired in Ottawa at 56 years old, he enjoyed several hobbies - watercolour painting, stained glass creations, and his big love, flowers and gardening. With coaxing from his four daughters who settled in St. Albert, he moved here in 2006.

We know he was given special care in Ottawa by Brian and family and his stepchildren, especially Joanne and Jackie, but we were fortunate to have Dad here for the last decade-plus of his life. We miss you, Dad.

Bill was cremated and the family will arrange a gathering later this year.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, 10430 61 Avenue NW #306, Edmonton, AB, T6H 2J3. (St. Albert Today, 21 Feb 2020)
