ASHWIN, Gilbert, LS, VR4509, RNCVR, MPK - 12 Dec 1916, HMCS GRILSE - Age 33, Son of Gerald and Ada M. Ashwin. Husband of Ethel G. Ashwin (nee Martin) of Outremont, QC. LS Ashwin was lost at sea when, along with 5 other men, he was swept overboard off HMCS GRILSE in a storm off Nova Scotia.
