When HMCS Margaree was sunk, Able Seaman Millan was initially reported as one of her casualties, however, his wife later received a telegram advising her that her husband had not sailed with the ship and was ashore in England, alive and well.
A copy of the Crow's Nest magazine for Nov 1954 lists a PO Francis Millan on The Petty Officer Leadership course No. 52 at HMCS Cornwallis.
