In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
BUCHANAN, Donald Ace - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Don on Monday, May 9 at the age of 85. Beloved husband to Anne (nee Kainberger) for 65 wonderful years. Cherished father to Debbie Gelinas (George) and Kevin Buchanan (Cindy). Proud grandpa to Meighen (Dave), Derek (Chantelle), Krystal (Jonathan), Lyndsey, Jake,Steven, Zachary Ace, Amber and Savannah, and great-grandpa to Owen, Kaelyn, Tylee, Kali, Kinsley, Nate, Norah, Nash, Harmony, Jaxson and Kennedi. Brother to the late Nancy Morgan. Brother-in-law to Alfred (Margit) in Austria. Don will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family from both Canada and Europe. Don served on the Windsor Fire Department for almost thirty five years, and retired as Captain. He is a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy and served on the HMS Magnificent. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of Windsor for their excellent care and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don's name to the Hospice of Windsor Essex County or the Essex County FireFighters Burn Unit Association. Memorial visitation will be held at Victoria Greenlawn Funeral Home on Friday, May 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial Chapel Service will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 10 a.m., followed by internment at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
