In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GARDNER, William Albert - Passed suddenly on February 7, 2022 at the age of 80, in the arms of Judy (Giberson), his soul mate and best friend of 33 years. Predeceased by parents Harold Gardner and Alice Nelson of Hamilton. He will be sadly missed by his children: Troy (Brenda), Sean (Deb), Grant and Kim, his grandchildren Daemian, Drayk and Sarah, Taylor and Rachel, Rowan and Piper, William and Madeline. Bill was from a large family; John (Orillia), Darlene (Toronto), Ruth (Orillia), Jim (Vancouver). Predeceased by brothers Art, Ray, Allan and Ed. Bill's family lived in the Mennonite area of Kitchener before locating to the farming village of Brechin. Bill attended elementary school at a little one room schoolhouse in the village before attending Orillia District Collegiate and Vocational Institute (ODCVI) in Orillia. After high school Bill joined the Royal Canadian Navy starting in Cornwallis NS, then serving aboard the great aircraft carrier HMCS BONAVENTURE and the destroyer HMCS ATHABASKAN. After serving at sea Bill remained with National Defence as a stationary engineer at Base Borden while residing in Angus. When the time came to retire, Bill and Judy re-located to Amherstburg to be close to family. The family invite friends to join them in a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 1 - 4 with a service at 2:00 p.m. at the Army Navy Club (52 Morrow Road in Barrie, ON).
