In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
ANTHONY, Albert Ralph (Tony) - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Albert Ralph Anthony, of Dartmouth, known to his friends as ‘Tony’. Albert was born in Montreal in 1939. He was one of 11 children born to William and Francis Anthony. As a teenager, he worked at Northern Electric where he met his future wife, Brigitte (Fernande) Charest. Albert joined the Navy in 1958 and took basic training at HMCS Cornwallis. He spent a total of 33 years in the regular Forces, serving on surface ships initially then transferring to O class submarines. He was very proud of his many years as a submariner. From there he joined the Reserves and sailed on the HMCS Fort Steele as an instructor. In retirement he discovered a talent for creating beautiful stained-glass pieces. Retirement also allowed him to spend time watching his two favourite sports teams; the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays. But his true joy and constant companion was his dog- Niko. They could often be seen walking together at Fisherman’s Cove. Albert was predeceased by his wife Brigitte of 60 years. He leaves behind his daughters, Johanne (Stephen) and Carole (Ken); sons, Mark (Mary) and Andrew (Stacey) as well as granddaughters, Marsalie and Alison and grandsons, Angus and Calum. He is also survived by his sisters, Francis, Norma, Linda and brothers, Jackie and Raymond. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Billy Zaib for his friendship and support. A private graveside service will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favourite charity. We miss you Dad. Forever in our hearts.
