ELDRIDGE, Gilbert Edwin - The death of Mr. Gilbert " Gib " Edwin Eldridge, husband of Amy Mary (Birch) Eldridge occurred unexpectedly at his residence in Beaver Harbour, NB on Wednesday October 6, 2004. Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on July 21, 1919, he was a son of the late Oscar and Mildred (Cross) Eldridge. Gib worked as a Fisheries Officer, over 35 years, covering St. Andrews and St. George, NB. A survivor of the TRENTONIAN, Gib served overseas with the Navy, in WWII. A member of the Blacks Harbour Legion, Branch # 39. Surviving besides his wife Amy, is a son Allan Eldridge (Dawn) of St. George, NB., one sister Myrtle (Honey) Ralston of Beaver Harbour, three grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, and Wendy, four nieces, Norma, Hazel, Cindy, and Faye. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB (755-3533), with visiting on Thursday October 7, 2004, from 7 to 9 pm. The service will be held at The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, at the St. George Funeral Home on Friday, October 8, 2004, at 11:00 am. with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. A Legion Tribute will be held at the St. George Funeral Home, on Thursday evening at 7 : 00 pm. (Source: Find-a-Grave)
Gilbert was a pallbearer for the funeral of his friend LS Herbert Eldridge in 1945.
