James Graham Clinton Atwood

Born: 1929, Grand Forks, British Columbia

 

Died: 02 Oct 2021, Victoria, British Columbia

 

ATWOOD, James Graham Clinton - Fondly known as Jim by his family and friends, he passed away peacefully at home in Victoria, British Columbia on October 2nd with his wife and son by his side.

 

Predeceased by his parents Mae and Clinton Atwood, he is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Janet, (Louis) and children: James, Phillipa (Dave), Cherry (Uby) and Jennifer (Mike); along with his brother William (Jill) Atwood and 7 grandchildren.

 

Jim was born in August of 1929 in Grand Forks, BC and attended Royal Roads Military College, graduating in 1948 as a Midshipman in the Royal Canadian Navy. After training as a marine and aeronautical engineer in the UK, he served with VT 40, HMCS BONAVENTURE, NDHQ, VX 10, 448 Sqn and in the Naval Dockyard Esquimalt. Jim retired from the navy in 1974 but stayed on in the dockyard as a project engineer until 1987.

 

In retirement, James and Janet travelled to many nations all over the globe serving with various mission projects. He was very involved with the Christian community in Victoria, especially Precious Jewels Ministry for children and families of which he was founding president and chairman for many years.
There will be a private scattering of ashes for the family; however, a Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
