In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
McELWEE, Douglas Llewellyn - age 68 of Wilmot, Annapolis Co., passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his wife on Monday, March 29, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Doug started his 24 year military career with the Navy serving aboard the HMCS Terra Nova in Esquimalt, BC. He travelled to Japan, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Hawaii and many other destinations. He then took a career change and went to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and then ending in Comox, BC as a Safety Systems Tech. Doug enjoyed so much in life from sailing, water rafting down the Puntledge river, motorcycling, side by siding, fishing, antique cars and camping to name a few. He was the type of person that you instantly liked when you met him. As a friend said, “He was kind, generous, attentive and a loyal friend. He will be missed, but never forgotten.” Doug will be missed by his loving wife Terry of 29 years; son, Donny (Melanie Frank), Mission, BC; daughter, Arlene (Shannon Graham) Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Shea and Kaleena; great-granddaughter, Aubree; mother, Ruth Benson; sister, Dianne Boyce; brother, Steven Benson and dog Buddy. He was predeceased by his father William McElwee. In keeping with Doug’s wishes there will not be a service. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St.
