MASER, William Josef - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of William Josef Maser on March 25, 2021 at the age of 83. Born and raised in Hanover, Ont., he was the eldest son of Josef and Pearl Maser (Kreuter). He is survived by his wife, Shirley Maser (Dauphinee); brothers, Peter Maser (Melanie) and Robert Maser; daughters, Kelli Maser-Doig, Krista Livingstone; daughter-in-law, Deborah Robichaud; grandchildren, Jennifer Janusas (Andrew), Jeff Robichaud (Ashley), Liam and Olivia Livingstone; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Owen Janusas and Lauren Robichaud. He was predeceased by his stepson, Daryl Robichaud; and grandson, Ryan Doig. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1956 as an OSLMS and retired in 1992 as a CPO2 combat systems co-ordinator. He spent over half of his career on various ships from minesweepers to aircraft carriers. He served on both Canadian coasts with very fond memories onboard HMCS Iroquois. Even in retirement he maintained a love for the sea and enjoyed the cruise vacations that he and Shirley shared together, especially their European River Boat cruise in 2014. It was while living in East Uniacke on Lewis Lake where he mastered the craft of "puttering". He took pride in his gardening and spent most of the winter meticulously clearing his decks and driveway. Bill was active in his community as he regularly volunteered at the local RCMP station and was a member of Mount Uniacke Legion 165. He was also a member of the Masons, serving as District Deputy Grand Master of the Hants County District in 2007. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Service will take place in Atlantic Funeral Homes in Sackville on Saturday, April 3rd at 2 p.m. Due to COVID-19 protocols attendance will be by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. (Saltwire Network 31 Mar 2021)
