BUCCI, Gerald - Following a courageous battle with cancer, Gerald Bucci, of Plaster Rock, passed away at the Grand Falls General Hospital on February 7, 2014. Born in St-Leonard, NB on October 9, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Emma (Mazerolle) Bucci. Gerald leaves behind his wife Hazel Bucci (Schofield); his children Karen Jenkins (Brian) of New Maryland, Sandra Dow (John) of St. Stephen, Richard Bucci (Shawn) of Riley Brook, John Bucci of Plaster Rock, Paul Bucci (Sherry) of Brownville Junction, ME, Brenda Bucci of Plaster Rock; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Florence Roulston of Halifax, NS, Mildred Dube of Perth-Andover, Dorris Straight of Presque Isle, ME, Verna Green of Plaster Rock; brothers Eldred "Fuzz" Bucci (Lorna) of Plaster Rock, Wallace Bucci of Fredericton. Gerald was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Roy and Lawrence Bucci. Gerald retired from Canadian Pacific Railway after 45 years of employment. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII onboard HMCS Ontario. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #29, for 69 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Upper Valley Shrine Club Caboose Unit. Gerald enjoyed many outdoor activities, including fishing and hunting.


Respecting Gerald's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2 pm from St. Andrew's United Church, Plaster Rock. Rev. Amanda Longmoore officiating. Interment will be in the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery at a later date. A Legion Memorial Service and a Masonic Service will be held at the church on Thursday just prior to the formal memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Shriners or to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #29, would be appreciated by the family.

 

Gerald enlisted in the RCNVR in 1943 and was demobilized in late 1945

 

Ships served in:

HMCS ONTARIO - Served in ONTARIO on her wartime deployment from the UK to Hong Kong via the Mediterranean, Suez Canal and Indian Ocean and until she arrived in Esquimalt via Hawaii.
