PHILLIPS, Gordon Thomas - It is with great sadness the family of Gordon Thomas Phillips announces his passing after a lengthy illness on January 18th. Gordon was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and spent ten years of his life from ages five to fifteen growing up in Woods Christian Home orphanage. He then worked for CP Rail until he finished high school and moved to Victoria at the age of 17 with the Armed Forces and where he met the love of his life, Yvonne "Bonnie" LeCorre. Dad served on the HMCS SIOUX. He and Mom were married in 1957 and remained married for 62 years until her death in 2020. Gordie was the type of man that could build anything he put his mind to, he was a jack of all trades and ran several businesses over the years including vacuum stores and 2nd hand stores around town. He loved going to the Swap n Shop at the Tillicum drive-in and would wheel and deal all day long. Being an avid reader Dad was one of the most intelligent people we knew, we could ask him anything and he always had an answer. He leaves behind his sister Elaine in Calgary, his four children Janet, Dianne, Susan, and David (Jessie) he was a loving Grandpa to Jason (Nicole), Tanya, Sherri (Kyle), Brian, Christopher, Scotty, Abby, Amy and Charlie as well as his great grandchildren Taylor, Landyn and Connor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Tom, his sister Carole, brothers Doug and Bob and his two granddaughters Julie and Laura Delaney. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to Victoria Hospice. A private family service will be held at a later date. Interment to take place at God's Acre Cemetery.
