MASFERRER, Umberto Maya Schwartzentruber - Umberto Maya Schwartzentruber Masferrer died suddenly on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Maya was born on July 9, 1999 in Toronto. He is survived by his parents Lorna Schwartzentruber and Roberto Masferrer of Guelph, Ontario and his maternal grandparents Hubert and Mary Schwartzentruber of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Lovingly remembered by aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada and El Salvador. Maya was proud to identify himself as a Salvadoran. He was committed to his role as Sailor 2nd Class (S2) with the Royal Canadian Navy as a reservist. His friendships from school, the Air Cadets and the Reserves were a central part of his life and community. His passions included diving, physical fitness and his beloved dog Hooch. Maya’s adventurous spirit enriched the lives of everyone who knew him. Details regarding a celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sanctuary Scholars Program Bursary at York University (https://giving.yorku.ca/Maya) are welcomed.
