SILK, James Ernest, LS RDF 2c, V19493, RCNVR, died - 25 Oct 1944, HMCS SKEENA - Son of Henry Herbert and Rose Silk; husband of Inez Edna Silk, of Windsor, Ontario.

 

LS Silk was lost over side and drowned when HMCS SKEENA was forced onto the rocks near Iceland during a North Atlantic gale. His body was recovered and he was buried in the Fossvogur Cemetery, Reykjavik, Iceland.

 

LS Silk of HMCS SKEENA, was drowned October 25 during heavy weather while on patrol duty in the North Atlantic, and was buried at sea with full naval honours, his wife was informed yesterday.  Born in Windsor, he was an employee of the Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, before he enlisted in August, 1941. LS Silk went to sea in May, 1942.  Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gloria Jean, four, and Isobel Nancy, two.  He is also survived by four brothers, Charles, Bert, Fred and Stan, all of Windsor.
