Mike spent his career in the Canadian Navy, serving in a variety of assignments, working his way up from Ordinary Seaman to Commander. Some of Mike's fondest career memories included his time spent working on submarines based in Esquimalt, BC, as well as key postings as Base Commander at CFMETR, Nanoose Bay, and assistant Naval Attaché representing the Canadian Navy in London, England. Mike was passionate about volunteering in the community, from coaching youth soccer and baseball in Victoria, to dedicating his retirement days to a variety of local organizations including Arrowsmith Search and Rescue, Milner Gardens, Qualicum Beach train station restoration project, Probus and the Nanaimo branch of the Officers Club. In addition to his volunteering activities Mike enjoyed being a member of Qualicum Beach Golf Course, playing bridge, and was an avid gardener and reader. Special thanks to Drs. Fletcher and Juralowicz and the wonderful staff at Eagle Park who took such great care of Mike. The family is appreciative of the care and support they provided. There will be a private family gathering to celebrate Mike's life. Donations may be made in Mike's memory to Arrowsmith Search and Rescue, Milner Gardens or a charity of your choosing.
