Died: 19 Mar 2000

 

SIMONS, Earl Raymond - age 75, of RR# 1 Forest and formerly of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Sunday, March 19, 2000.

 

He was born in Aylmer, son of the late Elmore Simons and the former Anna McTaggart. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy on the CHAUDIERE during the Second World War. After the war he worked for Imperial Leaf Tobacco in Aylmer until moving to Stratford in 1965 and was employed at Standard Products as a tooling engineer until retiring in 1988 and moving to Ipperwash in 1991. He was a member of St. Christopher Roman Catholic Church in Forest and a former member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Stratford.

 

Beloved husband of Helen May (Maloney) Simons whom he married in Aylmer on July 4, 1953. Loving father and grandfather of Judy Dahms and husband Brian and their children Kelly, Christy and Michael, Robert Simons and wife Janet and their family Jodi, James, Jillian, Jenny and Julia, Lynn Sharman and husband John and their son Curtis, Michael Simons and wife Debra and their children Nikki, Scott, Jessica and Katie, Patrick Simons and wife Irene and their children Jeff, Stephanie, Carly and Greg, John Simons and wife Holly and their children Dawn, Kevin and Dean, Lori Schooley and Mike McLeod and their family Jay and Ty. Also survived by sisters Eileen Burgess, Stratford, Jean Gammon and husband Ray, Winnipeg, a brother-in-law Ted Mitchell, Aylmer and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families.

 

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Kay Mitchell, a brother Lewis Simons and a brother-in-law Don Burgess.

 

Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St. Stratford on Tuesday, March 21, from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 22 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the London Regional Cancer Centre (Thameswood Lodge) or to the building fund of Immaculate Conception or St. Christopher's Church through the funeral home. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
