Marcel Simard was born in Montreal and was living in St. Paul L'Hermite, Quebec when he joined the Canadian Forces (C.F.) on 27 Apr 1977, completing basic training at CFB St Jean . His initial trades training was an a Radar Plotter 275 and in the early 80s he was MORPED to Naval Combat Information Operators 271 (NCI Op). Marcel retired in Dec 1999 as a Master Seaman and then joined the  Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC) serving from 2012 to 2014. He was a founding officer of RCSCC Wolf 356 in Mount Uniacke.
