In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
EMRICK, Robert "John" - With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of John Emrick at his home on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. John was predeceased by his wife Donna (née Johnson), his parents Gorden and Elsie (née Reid) Emrick, and his sister and brother-in-law Margaret (Jake) Armstrong. John will be greatly missed by his daughter Kelly-Ann Emrick, his precious granddaughter Samantha Cromwell and sister Norma (late Bob) Green; his nephew Tom (Tara) Green as well as several nieces and nephews. John proudly served on land and sea with the Royal Canadian Navy for 26 years, making lifelong friends from coast to coast. John retired a Navy Petty Officer 1st Class in North Bay ON and began working as a bus driver with North Bay Transit. Throughout his retirement he always maintained contact with several friends from his past career attending yearly reunions in Halifax NS. To further memorialise his life in the navy and the history of those who served with him, John created a website (http://www.underthecat.com). John's dedication to his fellow sailors and the life he lived aboard the HMCS BONAVENTURE is reflected on this web page and he received a great amount of praise and support for his efforts. John also took great pride in his hometown of Englehart ON, where he returned after the passing of his loving wife, Donna, to spend the last part of his journey. John will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to so many. Donations in John's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (110-1525 Carling Avenue, Ottawa, ON K1Z 8R9) or to the Lung Association (18 Wynford Drive, Suite 401, Toronto, ON M3C 0K8).
