Peter Garfield Bowen

Born: 1954        Died: 11 Jan 2012

 

BOWEN, Peter Garfield - In hospital on January 11, 2012 in his 58th year after long and courageous battles with cancer and multiple sclerosis. Youngest son of Stella Mary Bowen (nee Penwarden) and the late Merton Alwyn Bowen. Dearest father of Cindle Bowen. Predeceased by his former wife Sandra Whyte. Peter will be sadly missed by his brother Bruce (Cheryl Mousseau) and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the extended Bowen and Penwarden families. Peter was a proud submariner (HMCS Okanagan - HMCS Ojibwa) and served Canada during the Cold War from 1976 to 1985. He will be remembered always by his buddy Michael Dunlop and his many shipmates, friends and Old Comrades. Many thanks to the staff of the Ottawa Hospital General Campus, We Care, and all those who supported Peter during his lengthy illness. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd (at Roosevelt Ave,) Ottawa on Tuesday January 17, 2012 from 10 a.m. until service time. Service will be held in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. followed by a time of fellowship in the reception center of Tubman Funeral Homes. After the reception, a procession to Capital Memorial Gardens will take place for the burial of Peter's ashes. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Ottawa Chapter.
