CULLIGAN, Joseph Robert (Bobby) - in Bathurst Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at the age of 73. Born in Belledune, N.B., he was a son of the late Theo Culligan and Frances Devereaux Culligan. He joined the RCN in 1953 and served 26 years, retiring in 1979, whereupon he embarked on a career with Canada Post in his trade as an electrician. He was an active member of his church, was involved in several charities and was an active member of the Atlantic Chiefs and Petty Officers Association. Born and raised in Belledune, he worked and raised his family in Dartmouth, and upon his retirement, returned to his home in Belledune. He is survived by sons, Joel (Natalie), Brooks, Alta.; Chris (Allison), Greenwood; Colin, Ottawa, Ont.; their mother, Ann (Connolly) Culligan; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Aidan, Ben, and Lian; brothers, Lloyd, Belledune; Frankie (Karla), Belledune; Ronald, Miramichi, N.B.; David, Belledune; sisters, Anita Smith (Les), Bedford, and Mary Kay Adell, Palm Desert, Calif. He was predeceased by his mother and father, and sister, Shirley. Visitation will be in St. John the Evangelist Church, Belledune, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 1:30-2:45 p.m. His funeral will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church, Belledune, on Monday at 3 p.m. A memorial service will be held in St. Peter's Church, Dartmouth, on Saturday, May 19, at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.
