John Whitmore

 

Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class, Engineer, RN / RCN / C.A.F.

 

Born: 25 Aug 1936, Walsall, England

 

Died: 05 Mar 2000, Brooklyn, Hants Co., Nova Scotia

 

WHITMORE, John - Age 63, passed away at home in Brooklyn, Hants Co., Nova Scotia. John was born in Walsall, England. He joined the Royal Navy and served in HMS Eagle where he was awarded the Suez Medal for service during the Suez Blockade. After joining the Canadian Armed Forces he served in submarines HMCS Onondaga, Ojibwa & Okanagan. John served for 31 years in the RN and Canadian Armed Forces retiring as a Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class. He was a Marine Engineer. Following his retirement he was employed with Saint John Naval Systems and the Department of National Defence. John was laid to rest in St. James Cemetery in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia.
