In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
Young, John Bruce - was born on 02 Oct 1922 in Glasgow, Scotland and raised in Windsor, Ontario. During WW2 he served in the RCAF as a LAC from 28 June 1941 to 25 Feb 1942. He enlisted in the RCNVR at HMCS HUNTER on 8 July 1942 and trained at a number of establishments such as BYTOWN, CARLETON, CORNWALLIS, STADACONA and HOCHELAGA before being posted to the ship's company of the newly commissioned HMCS MONTREAL in November 1943. He served onboard HMCS Montreal for the remainder of the war until October 1945 when he was demobilized and the Montreal was paid off. Following the war he returned to Windsor, married, worked at Bradings Brewery and raised his family before moving to Toronto where he worked for Carling's Brewery, Ford Motor Company and finally The Department of Immigration. John Young died in Toronto, Ontario on 08 Jan 1978.
