Kenneth Charles Bain

Died: 18 Dec 2012, Petrolia, Ontario

 

BAIN, Kenneth Charles - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Charles Bain Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health, Petrolia, in his 91st year. A lifelong resident of Petrolia, he was a true Hard Oiler. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie (nee Calhoun), and daughters Pat (Wes) Coke of Petrolia, Dianne of London, Nancy (Gord) Jeffrey of Peterborough, and Karen (Greg) Cross of Petrolia; eight grandchildren, Shari, Shauna, Ian, Rob, Jennifer, Mark, Alysha, and Tyler, several nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Kathleen Cant. Predeceased by his parents Roy and Birdie, and brothers, Harry (Marjorie), Clare (Deane), and Carl (Helen). Ken served in the navy aboard the ship Clayoquot during the Second World War and he loved to reminisce about his days in the service. He was a past member of Petrolia Town Council and manager at Detroit Gasket until his retirement. At Ken's request, there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. There will be a private family service at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the C.E.E. Hospital Foundation (wheelchair Fund), and can be arranged by calling the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Daniel and to the dedicated, hardworking nursing staff and physio staff at C.E.E. Hospital for their care and compassion.

 

Kenneth was one of 4 brothers in the Bain family from Petrolia, Ontario to serve during WW2. His brothers were:  G. Harry Bain (Navy), Clare Albert Bain (Navy), Carl Bain (Army - served in the UK).

 

Kenneth Bain is buried in the Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia, ON.
