Gordon Westley Stinson

Died: 29 Sep 2019, Regina, Saskatchewan

 

STINSON, Gordon Westley - passed away on September 29, 2018. Gordon was born October 6, 1931 in Regina, Saskatchewan to George and Rose Stinson. He met Margaret Clara Wass in 1948, and they were later married on September 22, 1951. Gordon joined the Royal Canadian Navy and was promptly sent to the Korean conflict. He returned from Korea and was stationed with the Pacific Fleet in Esquimalt, British Columbia. After a long career in the Navy and having been posted to the Atlantic coast on two occasions, Gordon attained his Commission as an officer. He spent several years at headquarters in Ottawa and then as Commanding Officer in Regina before retiring in 1985. Gordon was predeceased recently by his loving wife of 67 years, Margaret, in March 2018. He is survived by his five children; Darro (Donna), Lori (Ken) Chilibeck, Greg (Edina), Dwight (Angie) and Shelley (Brian) Kessel; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Frank Fay; and sister-in-law Shirley Wass. A private family service will be held at a later date.
