Lorne Roy Shouldice

 

Died: 19 Aug 2003

 

SHOULDICE, Lorne Roy - Peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the age of 80 years, surrounded by his family. Loving husband and best friend of Shirley (nee Armstrong). Beloved father of Gregory (Jo Ann), Jeffrey (Tracey) and Brian. Devoted grandfather of Christopher, Jeffrey and Jennafer. Dear brother of Gladys Catto, Ronald (Elaine) and the late Elmer and Muriel McNally (Nelson). Lorne served his country during WWII aboard the aircraft carrier HMS Nabob, torpedoed in the North Atlantic in 1944. After working for Bell Canada (Ottawa) for 32 years Lorne retired to his homestead in Wakefield, Quebec in 1978. He was a very active member of the community, serving on the Wakefield municipal council and the Royal Canadian Legion. Lorne's family is extremely proud of his final act of public service as the principal fundraiser for the recently completed Wakefield Cenotaph. When not hard at work, Lorne's favourite pastime were hunting, fishing and gardening. Friends may visit at the McGarry Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel, 139 Valley Road, Wakefield on Thursday, August 21, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Legion Service followed by the Funeral Service will be held at St Andrews United Church, Wakefield on Friday at 2 p.m. Interment Rupert Union Cemetery. A reception will follow at the McGarry Memorial Reception Centre. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Gatineau Memorial Hospital or Wakefield Cenotaph Committee.
