Died: 25 Sep 2019, Halifax, Nova Scotia

 

McNEIL, Samuel Francis - It is with sorrowful hearts that we announce the death of Samuel “Sam” Francis McNeil, age 68, of Halifax. Born July 1951 in Glace Bay, the son of Dan J McNeil and Mary Campbell, Sam grew up in Reserve Mines, Cape Breton. He joined the Canadian Navy in 1973 and served aboard HMCS Gatineau, HMCS Iroquois and HMCS Algonquin. He served in Montreal in the Frigate program and in Toronto in the Tribal update program. Sam was very grateful for the gift of a heart transplant in 2005. Sam was predeceased by his parents, his sister Catherine and brother Wendell. He is survived by brothers Eric and Donald and several nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his dear friend Doris Feltmate. Per Sam’s wishes he has been cremated and burial will be at sea. (Halifax Chronicle-Herald 30 Sep 2019)
