Died: 14 May 2019, Calgary, Alberta

 

GIBSON Robert (Bob) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Charles Gibson. Bob passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 surrounded by family at the Holy Cross Manor in Calgary, Alberta. Bob was born November 11, 1924 to Bill and Moyra (Warke) Gibson in Delia, Alberta, the oldest of 6 children. Bob served in the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII as a stoker on the HMCS Algonquin (R17). Bob worked with his father running the Gibson Farm Implements Dealership in Delia and then expanded to Drumheller. He was actively involved with the Masonic Order, Royal Canadian Legion and the Elks. Bob is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Diane (John) Barich; grandchildren, Jessica (Derek) and Sarah; great grandchildren, Ty, Brody, and Avery; step-children, Jim (deceased) (Bev) and Dan (Dianne); Jim and Bev's children, Kerry, Lori, Jamie, and Stephen (deceased) and their families; sisters, Muriel (Bill), Wilma, Norah, Freddie and their families; brother, Don (Martha); long term companion, Bette, her two sons, David (Karen) and Victor Almond and their families; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents and wife, Laura. Bob lived a very fulfilling and loving life and was respected and loved by many. As per Bob's wishes, no public Memorial Service will be held. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, #100, 119 - 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6.
