SAUNDERS, Oliver Milen (Olie) - 60, Dartmouth, died September 27, 1992, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Shelburne, he was a son of Nora (Stewart) Saunders, Manitouwadge, Ont., and the late Oliver Gilbert Saunders. He was employed with Canadian Corps. Of Commissionaires, having served with the RCN for over 32 years, retiring in 1988, with the rank of CPO. He is survived by his wife, the former Sally Lovell; daughter, Stella, at home; four sons, David, Petawawa, Ont.; Olie, Timmons, Ont.; Terry, Milen, both at home; two stepsons, Kevin Lovell, Regina, Sask.; Brian Lovell, Amherst; three brothers, Terry, Bedford; Cyril, Sooke, B.C.; Gilbert, Manitouwadge; 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Carol Ann, Betty Lou. The body has been cremated. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St. Dartmouth, where a memorial and legion service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday from their chapel, Rev. Paul Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Halifax Infirmary.
CPO1 Olie Sunders was buried at sea.
