BAIN, Glen Donald - after a long, courageous battle with heart disease peacefully at St. Joseph's Health Centre on Tuesday, January 14, 1997, age 73 years, Glen Donald Bain of London and formerly of Stratford, dearly beloved husband and best friend of Barbara Bain, loving father of Richard Bain and his wife Kelly, Linda Freeman and her husband Steven, Dear grandpa of Caroline and Daniel Bain, Jordan, Lindsay, Julia and Maggie Freeman, and Luke and Laura Irvine: who were all special to Grandpa. Dear brother of Robert Bain and his wife Fran of Stratford and John and his wife Jean Bain both late of Stratford and brother-in-law of Jim and Gilda Brown of Beaverton, Oregon. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Glen saw active duty in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War and loved his country and flag. He retired from teaching at Thames Secondary School in 1986. Active in his community, Glen served with the Boy Scouts of Canada, Rotary, University Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and was an active member and Elder Emeritus of First-St. Andrew's United Church. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, Richmond Street at St. James, London. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 16 at 2 PM in First-St. Andrew's United Church, 350 Queens Avenue at Waterloo Street, London by Rev. Dr. Frank Meadows. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The Access Fund of First-St. Andrew's United Church would be gratefully acknowledged.
