MASON, Robert Dudley (Bob) - 73, of Cambridge, Ontario. The family and friends of Robert Dudley Mason are deeply saddened with his passing at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, December 6th, 2009. Born in Paris, ON, he was the son of the late Dudley and Patricia (Tavenor) Mason. He will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Shirley (Laurent Bergeron), Dartmouth, NS, Patricia (Darren Livingstone) Digby, NS and never forgotten by sons Dudley (Christine) Halifax, NS and Rickey (Cheryl) Victoria, BC. He will be missed by his friend and mother of his children, Edna Sampson. He is survived by his brother Donald, seven grandchildren and five great grand- children. Bob was pre-deceased by his sister Barbara Langs. Known as Bob, he was a man with a sense of humor, sunny disposition and a laugh that made friends quickly. Originally raised in Paris, he joined the RCN in 1953, first sailing on H.M.C.S Quebec. As a Sailor and later, truck driver he had many stories to tell. Always an avid reader, upon his retirement, he fed his quest for learning with newly found computer skills, and had a great interest in anything to do with NASA and astronomy. Cremation has taken place. Respecting his wishes, a celebration of life and family memorial service will be held at a later date in Nova Scotia. We give thanks to the homecare workers, visiting nurses and staff of Cambridge Memorial Hospital for the excellent care given to our Father during his illness. A special thank you to close friends who were always there in his time of need, Gisela Holbrook and Darlene Ryan. (Waterloo Region Record 12 Dec 2009)
