Died: 17 Feb 2012, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

 

HOGG, Donald Robert - of Glencoe, Pictou Co., passed away February 17, 2012, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Braylorne, B.C., he was a son of the late Robert and Margaret (Moyes) Hogg. He served 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy and Submarines retiring in 1984. He was also a member of the Corps Commissionaires and the 1st Nova Scotia Highlanders as well as retired chief of the East River Valley Fire Department. Don was an active member of the Stellarton Lions and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 75 Eureka. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Quartermain); son, David (Debbie); daughters, Mary (Rick) Jamieson, Karen (Wayne) MacDonald; grandchildren, Colin, Matthew (Jessica), Amanda (Kenneth), Emily, Nola, Sybil (Jason), Trevor, Amee, Maria, Bridget Gary; great-grandchildren, Mariah and Wyatt; brothers, Peter (Linda) and Thomas; sister Catherine (Doug) Paterson of Merritt, B.C. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. There will be no service or committal at this time. Burial will take place at sea at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Don may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of one's choice. A special thank you to the nurses in ICU and Palliative Care of Aberdeen Hospital as well to the paramedics that responded to the house.
