HULFORD, David Linwood - It is with fondness and love that Ian Hulford (Lyndsay McQuaid, Sheena Hulford), and Lynn (Hulford) Roger (Gilles Roger), celebrate David's life. David Linwood Hulford passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on April 6th. Known as Opa by his favourite granddaughter, Sheena. He was a great source of songs, stories and balloons. David, born in Sydney, Cape Breton, was the beautiful baby boy of Helen (Walters) and Jack Hulford. Early on in his life David developed a thirst for knowledge and a passion for history. His Uncle Jackie helped instill a love of nature and wildlife. David enlisted in the RCAF at a young age and was proud to have served his country for 35 years. During his diverse career across Canada and Germany, he travelled the world with 12 air squadrons and aboard both the HMCS Saguenay and HMCS Margaree as the Airdet Chief. So many dear friends made along the way, including Frank Honey, Paul Lefrank and plenty of Jagermeister! David was predeceased by the love of his life and prom date, Elaine (Mossop) Hulford. David and Elaine loved travelling together and through their various military postings made wonderful lifelong friendships. David had a passion for the water - whether it was in a wet suit beside his buddy Lorne or sailing on the Lady Lynn as a member of the Shearwater Yacht Club. He made many long-lasting friends whom he entertained with his sense of humour, his tickle trunk, sharp wit and love of Lamb's Rum. Please join Lynn and Ian as they celebrate their father's love of life on Saturday, April 13th from 2-4 p.m. in Shearwater Yacht Club, 10 Avenger Place, Shearwater. Please no flowers, bring a favourite story to share. Donations to be made to a charity of your choice. PER ARDUA AD ASTRA
