Died: Aug 2021, Victoria, British Columbia

 

COLWELL, Ernest Wesley (Ernie) - Ernie was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and passed away peacefully in Victoria B.C. at the age of 90. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Chris, his children Jennifer Imeson (David), Gregory Colwell, stepson Larry Dennis (Dawn), grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ernie was predeceased by his youngest son Derek Colwell. Ernie was a commissioned officer in the RCN serving for 32 yrs. He was stationed in the UK for 7 yrs. serving as a submariner alongside the RN Submarine Service. Ernie's hobbies included deep sea diving and medal collecting and the latter hobby translated into his second career. When he retired from the RCN he was instrumental in founding the Naden Base Museum at CFB Esquimalt and was the curator for over a decade. Ernie will be deeply missed by all that knew him. We will always remember his delightful sense of humour. We will love you forever and for always. (Victoria Times Colonist 14 Aug 2021)
