Curt William Soderstrom

 

Died: 10 May 2006, Westminster, British Columbia

 

SODERSTROM, Curt William - passed away after suffering a stroke in New Westminster, BC, on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, on his 82nd birthday. Predeceased by his loving son Rob; sorely missed by wife of 60 years Ellen; brother Tim; sister Joan; son Curt (Cathy); granddaughter Lindy (Ryan); grandson Jamie (Jessica); granddaughters Katie and Sarah; great-granddaughters Shelby, Chalee, and Summer; plus many nephews, nieces, and other family members. Curt was affectionately known as Hon and Poppa to the immediate, extended, and adopted family. He was a wonderful family man who always put other people before himself. Curt was born in Manitoba, enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and spent his service years on a Corvette doing convoy duty in the North Atlantic. He was a 61 year member of Royal Canadian Legion branch #2 in New Westminster, where Curt served as Sergeant-At-Arms for 16 years. He was a resident of Sapperton for 48 years and a Canfor employee for 37 years. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Salvation Army Cariboo Hill Temple, 7195 Cariboo Road, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A special thanks to the nurses and staff on floor 5 South and Emergency at the Royal Columbian Hospital.
