Born:  21 Jul 1916, Toronto, ON

 

Died: 29 Jul 1995, Boca Raton, Florida, US

 

DEVANEY, Murray Leo - Murray Devaney joined the RCNVR and trained at HMCS Kings. He is listed in the Navy List for Apr 1942 as a Probationary Sub-Lieutenant at HMCS Kings. He was appointed to HMCS Columbia on 29 Nov 1943. While he was serving in Columbia, she collided with a cliff off Newfoundland in Feb 1944.  From 23 Mar 1944 to 18 Jun 1944, and 01 Jul 1944 to 22 Jul 1944, while she was being repaired, he was her commanding officer. On 23 Jul 1944 he was appointed to HMCS Niagara.  He was demobilized in 1945 and on 19 Jan 1950 appointed to LCdr RCNR on the retired list.

HMCS COLUMBIA - Drafted to Columbia 29 Nov 1943 as a Lt, RCNVR  //  6th Commanding Officer  //  8th Commanding Officer

HMCS NIAGARA - Drafted to Niagara 23 Jul 1944 as a Lt, RCNVR
