THE UGANDA TAR PAPER

The shipboard newspaper of HMCS UGANDA

"The Uganda Tar Paper" - was originally called "The Uganda Whatsit" and after a naming contest it was officially changed to "The Uganda Tar Paper" in Vol 1 No. 10.  The new name was announced in "The Uganda *********" Vol 1 No. 9.

These copies of THE UGANDA TAR PAPER were given to Malcolm Butler by Telegraphist Darrell Bedford, RCNVR who served aboard HMCS UGANDA throughout her commissioning, Pacific operations and return to Esquimalt. Malcolm has in turn shared them here for posterity's sake.

The originals were donated to the Library & Archives Canada for preservation.  The collection can be accessed as "Uganda (ship) fonds / MG30-E557 / Item ID Number 106861".
