Ladd Douglas Britten was adopted by Charles and Blanche Britten, in 1924 in Bedford, Nova Scotia. His birth parents are unknown. He married Dorothy Gwendolyn Slauenwhite married on 2 June 1943 at Halifax, Halifax County, Nova Scotia.
