In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GARRISON, John Robert - It is with broken hearts that the family of John Robert Garrison, of Port Williams, announced he has passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the age of 75.
John was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Annabelle Garrison, of Ontario, and older brother, Daniel Garrison, of Ontario.
Born in Chalk River, Ontario, on January 14, 1951, where at the young age of 17, John hitchhiked his way to Nova Scotia with plans to join the Navy. During his 3 years with the Navy, he met the love of his life Debbie, and they were married at the age of 19. Shortly after, they began a family and moved to the Annapolis Valley.
He spent much of his working career employed at Hostess Frito-Lay for over 30 years as a machinist and retired at the age of 63. During this time, he made many lasting friendships along the way. He was a dedicated and hard worker who never complained. John was well known to be good with his hands and was easily able to find solutions to something that required fixing, and the family always jokingly referred to him as "MacGyver".
John will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 54 years, Debbie, as well as his loving daughters, Angela (Randy) Garrison, of Kentville, and Shawna-Lee (Andrew) Garrison-Lockhart, of Kentville. He was a proud Grampy to Aiden, Joshua and Hannah, as well as his grand-doggies, Loki and Lulu. He is also survived by sister, Barbara (Fred) Blackstein, of Ontario; brother, Joseph Garrison, of Ontario, as well as several nieces and nephews. (White Family Funeral Home)
