In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HUNTLEY, William George - On Monday Nov 6 at Chartwell Long Term Care in London our beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully in his 95th year. Bill grew up in Akrona Ontario where his father was the local druggist. He won awards in track and field events in high school and then enlisted in the navy. During WWII he was a radio operator on the destroyer H.M.C.S. Kootenay doing convoy duty. After the war he met and married his wife of almost 70 years, the late Jantje (Jennie) Lubben and completed his pharmacy studies. Most of his working life was spent in Exeter Ontario where he was a keen bridge player and active in community affairs. He and Jennie loved to travel and spend time with family and friends at their cottage in Grand Bend. Bill is survived by his 3 sons, Doug (Florence) of England, Philip (Jayne) of Ottawa and Ross (Eva) of Grand Bend and their children: Jennifer, William, Michael, Jessica and Ryan. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at the Arkona cemetery in the spring. Expressions of sympathy and donations (Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of your choice) would be appreciated.
