In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
COLE, Walter Edward Miles (Bud) - It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of W.E.M. "Bud" Cole, LCdr (Ret'd) RCN, peacefully at Arbour Heights Long-Term Care Home in Kingston, Ontario, on August 23, 2022, in his 95th year.
Beloved husband of Rosemary, dear father of Derek (Sue) Cole, Leslie (Rob) Pettifer, Fiona Doulton, Deirdre Maas, Kirstie Attisha, and Robert (Jennifer) McDonald, Commander Cole was a boy soldier during WWII, then joined the Navy shortly after in Saskatoon. He served his Queen and Country for almost 4 decades on many ships and postings, including the Korean War. Predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Brownell), and his daughter Laura-Marie St. Denis, he will be missed by sisters-in-law Janet McLean and Catherine Hilz, his goddaughter Diane (John) Dalzell, and his many friends. "Grandpa Bud" will be fondly remembered by his 12 grandchildren and his legacy will go on with his 8 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at the James Reid Funeral Home in Kingston between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, August 30, between 1:00-1:50 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Cataraqui Cemetery on Thursday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arbour Heights for their special care of Bud. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice. (The Saskatoon StarPhoenix 27 Aug 2022)
