TURNBULL, James Ivan - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Ivan Turnbull at the age of 91.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta; sons, Bill and Rick; daughters, Denise, Laura, Brenda, and Sandra; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, William and Dorothy; brother, Arthur; sisters, Dorothy and Merrilyn; and son, Kenny.
Jim was born in Roseisle, Manitoba. He was a man of many talents and interests and kept busy all his life.
He started off working for the CN Railway, joined the Canadian Navy and served 5 years, ran heavy equipment, sold real estate for Century 21, ran an Inn in Fort McMurray, farmed, and ran an RV site at Burnstick Lake. In 1994, Jim and Ed Hudson formed the Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Assoc and took their ?ght all the way to Ottawa. He moved to Jarvie, hauled newspapers from Westlock to Slave Lake, joined the Canadian Taxpayers and sold memberships all over northern Alberta. In Jarvie, Jim and volunteers set up an open-air museum featuring an old sawmill. They cleaned up Cache Park and set up a Bat and Bird Conservancy and ran the Jarvie Auction Company. He moved to Westlock in order to be near medical facilities. He underwent surgery for cancer and shortly after that passed away in his sleep on October 30, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, November15, 2025,at 1:00 PM, at the Westlock Gospel Chapel.
