Claude Vincent (Armie) Armstrong

ARMSTRONG, Claude Vincent (Armie) of Saint John, husband of the late Joan (Coughlan) Armstrong, passed away on Monday, June 01, 2009 at the Ridgewood Veteran's Centre. Born at Oromocto on February 23, 1921, he was a son of the late Moses and Margaret (Nason) Armstrong. Claude was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy. Following his discharge, he served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police until 1966, when he joined the Royal Bank of Canada, retiring in 1985. Claude was a Past President and Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, as well as being a Life Member of the RCMP Veteran's Association. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Claude is survived by his son, Peter Armstrong of Cambridge, Ontario; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan, on March 22, 2004. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM from Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. (The Saint John Telegraph-Journal 10 Feb 2012)
