GOFORTH, Roy Frederick - 77, of 77 Woods St., Stratford, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998 in the Palliative Care Unit of Stratford General Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born in Stratford, he was a son of the late Leonard Goforth and the former Emily Ellis.
He had lived all his life in Stratford. He was a former employee of the Canadian National Railway Co. shops and later owned and operated Roy's Taxi Service for 25 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second War and was a member of the Anglican Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Ann Baker, whom he married in 1945 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Stratford; his children Kevin Goforth and wife Kelley of Stratford and Barbara and husband John Patenaude of Thornhill, Ont.; grandchildren Michael Goforth and wife Tanyle, Kelsey Goforth, John Jr. and Bobby Patenaude and special grandchildren Shannon, Scott and Tyler Johnson and Brian and Jacob Easterbrook. He is also survived by brothers Arthur Goforth, Frank Goforth and wife Lois, and Gordon Goforth and wife Roberta, all of Stratford; special friends Frank and Diane Easterbrook and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter Tamara Barbara Ann Patenaude; brothers Russell, Kenneth, Reid and Robert Goforth and a sister-in-law Ruby Goforth.
Friends and relatives will be received Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 pm. at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford, where the funeral service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. Cremation will take place with burial in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
