LOWE, Franklin Gordon (Matty) - I’ve sailed on to my great uncharted voyage (listening for the moo, if you know you know) to discover what comes next. I have had a great life, well lived. Forty-four years ago, my world changed from the Wanderings of a Single guy to BAM! True love and marriage to the love of my life, Pam.

Those who know us well are amazed by her patience and tolerance. Many colorful adjectives describe me, her real-life Homer Simpson like husband. Truly an angel to my devil. Plus, the big one… raising a family alone with a frequently absent husband away on a ship.

My children Hannah, Samuel, Karson, and Maya, all fill me with immense pride, joy, and wonder. I take comfort knowing their life story will be as great as mine has been. It’s hard to believe! Bumps between parents and children have taught wisdom, tolerance, and love that matures in us over time. They all have love for each other and a strong bond. They intuitively support each other while showing empathy to others who deserve it. Early days for Maya, but I know they will all help her as they do with each other. Karson and his beautiful wife Nisrine, I believe the future will bring happiness and joy. I am certain that God will watch and keep them safe in their journey. If God wills, they will be blessed throughout their lives until we all meet in paradise.

Shipmates over the years I have had the good fortune to choose a career where shipmates have been my away family and mentors. Freedom, carefree attitudes, too many long days and BS where we have appreciated all that make Jack every inch a sailor. But on a serious note, when needed, they all provide a true pay scale in case of sinnery. But true emotional support when needed, a kind word, confidential shared advice given and answered. Good lifelong, tight friendships.

Finally, Friends That Never Let You Go. We all have them. 10 20 30 40 50 years between sightings, but there is still the connect and it continues. One friend and I have never had a cross word with each other, and we've done a lot of stuff when we shouldn't have!

Good thing. I guess we share Some DNA somehow. I have had a wonderful life. The key word is "wonder." It's time to close this chapter and see what's next. Til We Meet again Cheers and love.  Matty

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
