In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HANNA, Lloyd - Lloyd was born in a grain elevator in Saskatchewan. His life was an adventure from the start!
At 17 he joined the Canadian Royal Navy and was posted to Victoria. On arrival he swore he would never leave this place except for travel.
Lloyd was on the bow of the first ship to go through Seymour Narrows after Ripple Rock was blown up on April 5, 1958. He was a Saanich Firefighter for 20 years; he drove and ran the fire trucks. PJ Novelty store was also one of his creations.
Lloyd loved playing sports: rugby, baseball, golf and was a hockey goalie.
Lloyd and his first wife Pat Hurly had two children, Stephen (who also became a Saanich Firefighter) and Colleen. Thus 5 grandchildren which were the joy of his life.
In 2008 he married Shelagh Haynes. Their life together was an adventure, starting with 3 months exploring the Yukon to wading in the Arctic Ocean! Boating in Holland, safaris in Africa and winters in Mexico.
Lloyd's last days were in the awesome care of Broadmead Veterans Memorial Lodge.
He will be deeply missed by the many people his life touched. (The Victoria Times Colonist 27 Sep 2025)
