MacLEOD, Gerard John (Heidi) - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gerard John "Heidi" MacLeod, 86, of Sydney in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on May 25, 2025.
Born in Oceanview, Heidi was the son of the late Donald Archibald and MaryAnn (MacIntyre) MacLeod.
He worked for the City of Sydney, in the rinks, well known as a Zamboni driver. He had a great love of family, and his granddaughters were his greatest joy.
Heidi is survived by his son, Chad (Susan) MacLeod; grandchildren Rose and Mary-Beth; brothers, Connie (Wilma), Jim (Sharon), and Donnie (Marg); sisters, Rose and Carmelita; and sister-in-law, Linda, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Margaret 'Peggy' MacLeod; sisters, Annie Theresa, Marion, Dolores; and brothers, Peter, Michael, and Jerome.
Donations in Heidi's memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. There will be no visitation or funeral. (The Cape Breton Post 26 May 2025)
