Died: 14 Dec 2014, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada

 

McGRAW, Nicholas J. - Age 89, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully December 14, 2014, in Shannex - Bissett Court. Born in Boishebert/St. Isisdore, N.B., he was a son of the late Omer and Suzanne (Robichaud) McGraw. Nicholas spent 21 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, first as a stoker, then as a hull technician - retired December 1966 as Chief Petty Officer Second Class. He retired again in 1986 as shop technician in the psychology department at Dalhousie University. His hobbies were making Maple syrup, going to dances at the legion in Neguac, N.B.; as well as working on his wife’s quilts. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris (DeBaie) of 28 years; his sons, Michael, David (Lana); daughters, Patty (Bobby), Maureen (Marc), Peggy (Keith), Joanne (Matt); brothers, Eusebe (Angela), Elzear (Laetitia), Rev. Father Fortunat, Robert (Raymonde); sisters, Edith (Noel) and Thérèse; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his siblings, Gerald, Alice, Irene, Rita and Marcella; great-grand­daughter, Violette Gofton at birth. Visitation will be held 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. on Friday, December 19, in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, in Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Father Charles Burke officiating. Burial in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
