GOLDEN, Gerald Peter (Gerry) - Age 89 of Halifax. Passed away peacefully on Saturday October 4, 2014 in the Veteran’s Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late John and Katherine (Murphy) Golden. Gerry served in the Navy during the Second World War. After serving in the navy Gerry enjoyed working as an auto body repair man along with 30 years of service as a firefighter with Halifax Fire Department. He is survived by his daughters, Verna Wiseman, Diane Golden, Janice Sheppard (Les), Deborah Bertram (Jorg), Carolyn Lovett (Michael); son, Randy Golden (Millie). He is also survived by grandchildren Cory, Nicolle, Allison, Kate, Matthew and Meaghan; great grandchildren Emmy and Soren. Gerry was predeceased by Emma Golden, his son, John Golden; brothers, Leo, John, Ronald and Harold; sisters, Mary “May”, Ethel, Hilda, Christina, Margaret and Minnie. The family would like to thank the staff of 6 East of the Veteran’s Memorial Hospital for the loving care they provided the past year. Cremation has taken place and as per Gerald’s request there will be no visitation or service. Dad will be remembered for his great sense of humour. He carried this with him until the very end.
