In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
McINTOSH, John Windsor - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Windsor McIntosh after a two year battle with cancer. Born Windsor, Ontario, he was the son of the late John Henry and Doris Marion ( nee Hines) McIntosh. Lovingly remembered by his wife Maureen (nee McKenna) of fifty years, son John (BJ) of Penticton, BC and son Keith (Annette) of Dartmouth, NS. John was a dedicated and loving "Grumpy" to his grandchildren; Haley McIntosh, Dartmouth, NS., Abigail, Cameron and Duncan McIntosh of Penticton. John will be sadly missed by his only brother Edward (Lorraine) McIntosh and family of Beulah, Michigan. John grew up in Windsor Ontario and was a member of the first class of HMCS Venture Naval College. His extensive naval career of 32 years concluded as Commandant of the Fleet School(s). He always had time to coach his sons and referee in minor hockey. A cottage in Zwicker Lake, NS. provided many happy summers for the McIntosh Family. After retiring he and Maureen started the next phase in their lives by spending the winters in Naples Florida. His competitive nature led him to become a 5 time world champion on the Canadian Men's International Shuffleboard Team. During his time in Naples he discovered his other great love, the art of stain glass. He spent many happy hours designing and creating incredible glass windows. In 1995 John and Maureen relocated to Penticton. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice House for their wonderful care. A memorial service/celebration of his life will be held Saturday July 18 at 10:00 am at the Penticton Funeral Chapel, 501 Winnipeg Street Penticton BC. Donations may be made in John's memory to the Moog and Friends Hospice House 1701 Government Street, Penticton, V2A 8J7 or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation of Canada, South Okanagan / Similkameen, 3373 Skaha Lake Road, Penticton, BC., V2A 6G6.
